Sir, – The Rathmines Barracks siren that has sounded ceremoniously at 12 every Friday has recently gone silent.
For over half a century, from my primary school days up to the present day, my weekend was excitedly heralded in on hearing it ring out.
It now wails on a Monday at midday. I wonder why it has been changed? – Yours, etc,
