Suit actions to words

House attire

Sir, – I was surprised this week to see a prominent Government backbencher address the Dáil in a colourful sports shirt, unbecoming for a parliamentarian. I think TDs should show a sense of decorum as they represent their constituents in the House, and take a leaf from their leaders, Leo Varadkar, Micheál Martin, and Eamonn Ryan, and also Paschal Donohoe and Michael Lowry, who are always impeccably turned out. Or look towards Westminster and the House of Commons where smart suit, shirt and tie are de rigueur. – Yours, etc,

JOHN M LEONARD,

Corbally,

Limerick.
