A chara, – The current HSE recruitment freeze has some exclusions, including graduate nurses. What about the nurses who finished their training a few years ago, were promised jobs at the time, but whatever “workforce planning” was at play fell down, the promise was broken and they had no choice but to emigrate, some to find work in high-tech hospitals in places like the UK and, of course, Australia. Many are now wishing to come home, armed with valuable experience and an eagerness to contribute. But alas they are being let down again by the system.
