Sir, – My understanding of cryptocurrency is rather cloudy. But I do know it’s not folding money. I’m fascinated by the report that the Garda Síochána have “seized the biggest quantity of cryptocurrency ever taken from criminals specialising in frauds based around bogus text messages” (“Garda investigation into cyber-fraud gang centres on Irish youth”, News, November 22nd).
This is very welcome news. But how did they “seize” it? Where have they put it? Will they be able to turn it into ordinary filthy lucre? – Yours, etc,
