Sir, – The phrase Seamus McKenna (Letters, November 30th) objects to, “Are you okay?”, seems perfectly pleasant to me.
Most of those working in retail and indeed hospitality are young, pleasant, hardworking and helpful.
They mostly only earn the minimum wage and not infrequently face demanding, abusive and even threatening customers.
Give them a break, or even a tip. – Yours, etc,
