Sir, – Frank McNally suggests that we live in the Europe of Napoleon and not that of Wellington (An Irishman’s Diary, November 29th). The outcome of the Congress of Vienna, however, was the work of two Irishmen, Wellington and Castlereagh, and the Europe in which we now live is a legacy of the congress rather than of Napoleon. – Yours, etc,
