Sir, – The Irish Fiscal Advisory Council has claimed that the Government has adopted “an everything now” approach to budgeting, with simultaneous tax cuts and substantial increases in spending, and is engaged in “fiscal gimmickry” (News, December 7th). Would gimmickry be synonymous with electioneering? – Yours, etc,
