Sir, – I would have hoped that we had matured to a point where we would no longer need to publicly proclaim our religious or non religious leanings. Sadly, Diarmaid Ferriter finds it necessary to announce that he gave up on religion at a young age (Opinion, December 21st). There appears to be an almost adolescent need among many public figures of our age to tell us that they have given up on religion. – Yours, etc,
