Sir, – This Christmas I am far from home in Kampala, where I am volunteering for a wonderful charity Hospice Africa Uganda.
While missing family, I am not missing the frenzy and stress that is part and parcel of the build-up to Christmas in Ireland. It is refreshing to be enjoying one devoid of pressure and overindulgence, with the true spirit of Christmas of togetherness and sharing at the centre.
The warm weather, and the fact that a brussels sprout can’t be had for love nor money in Kampala, are further bonuses. – Yours, etc,
MIRIAM DONOHOE,
