Sir, – Further to Karl McDonald’s article “Lost in translation: We live with nonsense placenames thanks to poor adaptation from Irish to English” (Life, December 30th) and recent correspondence (Letters, January 8th), Bluebell Road, in Dublin 12, is named in Irish as “Bóthar an Cloigín Gorm” and as “Bóthar na Coinnle Corra” on two street-name signs within ten metres of each other.– Yours, etc,
TERRY MOYLAN,
Dublin 12.
