Sir, – With the closure by Dublin City Council of a laneway, Harbour Court, due to antisocial activity taking place there (News, January 8th), is there any possibility that Dublin City Council will next close O’Connell Street for the same reason? – Yours, etc,
PAVEL MARIANSKI,
Dungarvan,
Co Waterford.
Sir, – I assume, now that the council has closed Harbour Court, the drug addicts and rough sleepers will just move back to the boardwalk. It’s not like they have any other options. – Yours, etc,
MARK CROWTHER,
Marino,
Dublin 3.
Sir, – Dublin City Council needs to develop better rationales for closing streets and blocking public access than optics and PR. – Yours, etc,
ULTAN Ó BROIN,
Blackrock,
Co Dublin.
Sir, – Dublin City Council’s decision to close Harbour Court due to persistent criminality and antisocial behaviour, along with recent stabbings in the city centre, are clear evidence on the ongoing crime and policing issues affecting the city centre.
Last July, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee told us Dublin city was safe. How safe is safe? – Yours, etc,
CONOR HOGARTY,
Blackrock,
Co Dublin.
