Sir, – The increase in postal charges must be responsible for the reduction in the number of Christmas cards sent in 2023. There is a real sadness in feeling that another tradition in this country is disappearing – the anticipation of cards dropping into the hall and the pleasure of seeing them adding to the Christmas decorations cannot be replaced by texts or phone calls. l suppose younger generations will not mind too much in their frantic rush through their lives but a pause to continue a time-honoured custom might be a good idea. – Yours, etc,
