Sir, – I want to express my massive disappointment in the Bray Municipal District of the Wicklow County Council and all involved parties that our beautiful cliff walk to Greystones is still closed. Instead of pursuing any objectives to try and fix the rockslides, we have multiple huge and ugly gates to keep us out. This is not a good look for our town, and it is quite frankly embarrassing. Are we that deathly afraid of an insurance claim that this wonderful amenity remains permanently closed?
The railway line was built over 150 years ago (an engineering feat of its time), and has been maintained ever since. How is our cliff walk not of similar importance? The residents of Bray and Greystones, and the many thousands of tourists that used to flock to our town (and businesses) are fed up. We see no action or even the slightest small attempt to get this walk back up and running again. I don’t need to spell out the benefits of the walk to the community – mental health, fitness, tourism, etc.
It is 2024 – there are ways and means that this cliff walk can be made accessible to the public. – Yours, etc,
COLUM CORR,
Bray,
Co Wicklow.
