Sir, – One word is missing from Sally Rooney’s lengthy essay on Gaza (“Killing in Gaza has been supported by Ireland’s ‘good friend’ in the White House”, News Review, March 16th). That word is Hamas. She writes of an “official” death toll of Palestinians but fails to tell us that the figure is supplied by Hamas; she refers to the Gaza health ministry but does not mention that the department is controlled by Hamas. She says nothing of that organisation’s anti-Semitism. What is most shocking is that she does refer to October last year but she does not say what happened on the seventh day of that month. – Yours, etc,
