Sir, – It seems that a day doesn’t pass without some article in The Irish Times referring to social media posts “On X, formerly Twitter”. A recent example comes from “French-Malian singer at the centre of an Olympian storm” (Sport, March 29th).
The brand name has changed: get over it. It’s tantamount to my asking in our local shop for a Snickers, formerly Marathon, a packet of Starbursts, formerly Opal Fruits, a bottle of Cif, formerly Jif, and a jar of Olay, formerly Oil of Ulay.
Twitter rebranded in July 2023. It’s time to let it go. – Yours, etc,
