Sir, – Kevin Kelleher’s memory (Letters, May 4th) of a railway announcement “The train to Ennis is a bus” calls to mind David McCullagh’s biography of John A Costello. Costello loved to recount tales of the West Clare Railway and claimed to have seen a printed timetable notice that ended with the warning, “There will be no last train.” – Yours, etc,
