Sir, – I’d hoped that the younger generation of candidates standing for election might bring a new perspective and vision for us jaded voters. A flyer in the door from an Independent fresh-faced candidate is promising “a future with brilliant public services, high quality and affordable food, clean water, good jobs, warm homes and more leisure time”. It’s regrettable that she omitted a chicken in every pot, bread with jam on both sides and an infinite supply of mother’s apple pie as she’d definitely have my first preference. – Yours, etc,
