Sir, – I was amused by your tech correspondent’s smartphone-based insect bite treatment (“Heat It review: if you are a frequent snack for mosquitoes and other insects, you need this”, Business, May 30th).
The lo-fi version is to heat a metal teaspoon in hot water and apply it to the skin. Some common sense is required regarding the temperature of the spoon but it works, without recourse to any external tech. The key to retaining our sanity in late capitalism is to realise two things: buying things is usually not the solution; and while there may be an app for everything, it’s unlikely you need it. – Yours, etc,
