Sir, – Arthur Beesley’s report made for interesting reading (“Referendums risked ‘legal uncertainty’ for migration rules, officials warned before O’Gorman’s reassurances”, News, June 6th).

We now know that Department of Justice officials expressed legal concerns over migration in respect of the referendums on family care.

Throughout the referendum campaign we were told that to express such concerns was to engage in “scaremongering” or, worse again, “far right” sentiments.

At what point can any citizen try to understand the complex issues without transparency and the full facts in advance of voting?
