Sir, – With respect to Mary Lou McDonald claiming “the voters think we are in government”, I think it’s more the case that Sinn Féin has been measuring the curtains of Government Buildings, and the electorate have been measuring Sinn Féin for government. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – According to Mary Lou McDonald, too many of their usual voters didn’t realise that Sinn Féin are not in government. Eoin Ó Broin tells us that their supporters’ anger at the Government induced such apathy among them that they didn’t have the energy to get to the polling station. Burdened with such deplorables, Sinn Féin should be congratulated for doing as well as they did. – Yours, etc,
