Sir, – The Very Rev John FA Bond (Letters, June 8th) suggests that Church of Ireland and Presbyterian Church Notes having to share space with the racing results may cast them as “non-runners” and “also-rans”. Given that the first recorded steeplechase in history took place between the spires of two Protestant churches in Buttevant and Doneraile in Co Cork in the 18th century, perhaps it’s simply a case of “horses for courses”? – Yours, etc,
JAKE WALSH,
Clogherhead,
Co Louth.
