Sir, – Pádraic Harvey (Letters June 22nd) asks how long is a piece of string?
If a piece of one-centimetre string can, in theory at least, be diced up into an infinite number of points, and yet the distance to the furthest galaxy from Earth also contains an infinite number of points, then clearly the entire concept of infinity needs a serious rethink. – Yours, etc,
SEAN McGIBBON,
Kilkenny.
