Sir, – Regarding Elizabeth Hussey’s letter (June 24th) on the cost of hearing aids, it will now set you back €5,000 for a decent set of these aids, plus the cost of replacements such as batteries, domes, filters, added to essential yearly insurance of €100 in case of loss, which can easily happen. There is a Government grant of €1,000 for those who qualify, not nearly enough for those whose financial position is such that the purchase price of the aids is beyond them. – Yours, etc,
