Sir, – Newton Emerson’s polemic on the North not learning from the efficacy of toll roads in the South (“Northerners envy Republic’s motorways – but toll are a bridge too far”, Opinion & Analysis, June 27th) is apposite. Toll roads are a small price to pay for a faster, smoother journey. Plus, without them, how else would I know exactly where my glove compartment stash of coins is at all times? – Yours, etc,
ENDA CULLEN,
Armagh.
