Sir, – Listening to radio coverage of the major information technology outage last week, one tech expert said it was lucky that it had happened on a Friday. This mitigated the effects of the outage as many organisations would be closed over the weekend, giving them time to deal with the problem.

Surely the logical extension of this is that all updates and patches should be released on Fridays. – Yours, etc,

PAT DUFF,

Dublin 3.
