Sir, – The all-island strategic rail review is a wonderful piece of work setting out a vision for the transformative modernisation of Ireland’s railway system by 2050 (“New services, 200km/h trains and the key proposals in all-island strategic rail review”, News, July 31st).
It will look terrific on the shelf beside all of our other multi-decade plans like Project Ireland 2040, the Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area, Housing for All, Sláintecare, Metro North, and so on. – Yours, etc,
KILLIAN FOLEY-WALSH,
Kilkenny.
Sir, – If the “plan” to transform the all-island rail network is to be implemented by 2050, especially in the northwest, they’d better start making tracks. – Yours, etc,
PETER DECLAN O’HALLORAN,
Belturbet,
Co Cavan.
A chara, – Delighted as I am for the people of Maynooth, when will there be a rail link of any description connecting Dublin Airport to the city centre and beyond?
I have been living in London since 1993 and have experienced frustrating and lengthy journeys getting to Dublin city centre from Dublin Airport on an alarmingly regular basis for the past 30 years. How can this not be at the top of anyone’s priority list? As an Irish national returning on a regular basis, this really is an embarrassment. – Yours, etc,
SARAH QUINN,
London.
