Sir, – The National Transport Authority report on the national train control centre, which was originally budgeted to cost €148 million, notes that the centre “is forecast to be delayed by nine months to May 2026″ and that “the project delivery team are implementing cost mitigation measures with a view towards securing an out-turn cost within an envelope of €170 million” (“Cost of new national train control centre increases by €40 million”, News, August 27th).
Why do I think that the “envelope” won’t be opened until Christmas 2026, and that the out-turn cost will be above €200 million? – Yours, etc,
F MADIGAN,
Dublin 6W.
