PAT O’CONNOR,

Sir, – The Office of Public Works has revealed that a new bicycle shed for Leinster House which allows for storage of 18 bikes cost more than €335,000. That is an outrageous waste of taxpayers’ money. If sitting TDs canvass me during the forthcoming general election, I may tell them: On yer bike! – Yours, etc,

PETER LYNCH,

Blackrock,

Sir, – I note that Sinn Féin plans to deliver affordable homes for between €250,000 and €300,000 (“Sinn Féin plans to spend €39bn on housing”, News, September 2nd).

Before finalising their costings, they might want to have a quick word with those who built the bike shed for 18 bikes in Leinster House at a cost of €335,000. – Yours, etc,

PAT O’BRIEN,

Dublin 6.
