Sir, – Having attended a very interesting talk on old Irish shopfronts on Culture Night in Letterkenny, it has really opened my eyes to the ugliness of plastic neon signs that are now replacing old shopfronts and the destruction of the traditional shopfronts’ lettering, use of colour, and simple but very eye-catching design.
Maybe it is time that businesses said no to plastic and reverted to what is much more in keeping with the towns and villages throughout Ireland. – Yours, etc,
