Sir, – Minister for Education Norma Foley is looking to introduce a mobile phone ban in secondary schools.
Is it not time to introduce a similar ban in the Houses of the Oireachtas? It is painful to witness behaviour beyond ignorant as some of our TDs scroll on their phones while in the Dáil chamber. They are elected to enact legislation for our country. They ought to be listening to, and participating in, debates and not searching for tractor websites and whatnot on their mobiles.
If it deemed appropriate to enact such a ban to keep our children focussed while in their workplace, school, surely we should expect and demand the same code of practice from our politicians. – Yours, etc,
