Sir, – We all must seriously question the validity of exit polling following last week’s general election. The figures presented as the results of the Irish Times/RTÉ/TG4/TCD/IPSOS/B&A exit poll were unambiguously flawed: Fianna Fáil was understated by 2.4 per cent. Sinn Féin was overstated by 2.1 per cent. Both of these figures were well outside the margin of error, leading to unnecessarily incorrect narratives about the election outcome until well into the count on Saturday afternoon. – Yours, etc,
MARK MOHAN,
Castleknock,
Dublin 15.
