Sir, On FM3 on Tuesday, May 27th, John Hughes gave us a Kathleen Ferrier programme from 8p.m. until 10 pm. This was a piece of glory in a world of diminishing loveliness. It prompted me, with full heart and wet eyes, to ask what each of us has given to make this strange world a better and more lovely place.
Now, even at this late hour, let all of us demand that our new government do its duty lift the whole standard of life in Ireland. Let us be dedicated not solely to money making - of course, I am very aware of its part in this process - but for heaven's sake, make it work to get our priorities right. Let it be used to lift our standards; to help us to love our country and to live in peace with one another.
We have outstanding talent, and we have a very noble past (I know, long, long past). We must remember it, and teach our young before it is too late.
