Sir, – Paul Burgess (November 20th) may be correct in his observation that the work on youth development at Ulster is leading to a future for Ulster and Irish rugby that is brighter.
It was depressing, however, to see the inevitable triteness about it being orange. As a season ticket holder at Ravenhill I, like most of the fans, care not a jot about the religion or politics of the man beside me on the terrace or the players in the team on the pitch. Ulster rugby, like Irish rugby, is a shared tradition and, as the Ulster branch has repeatedly stated (and revealed during repeated fan research) Ravenhill is a shared space with (increasing) room for orange, green and neither. – Yours, etc,
