Sir, – The ugly concrete slab that has been placed beside City Hall (“An Taisce wants carbuncle removed”, Home News, March 4th) looks for all the world like some modern-day sarcophagus.

Given that Bram Stoker once worked across the road (in the old Dublin Evening Mail office at the corner of Parliament Street) perhaps his creation lies beneath, ready at a moment’s notice to sally forth at the behest of our EU masters in the Castle and extract yet more blood from the Irish taxpayer! – Yours, etc,
