Sir, – Frank McNally’s story of St Ethelburga’s Church in the City of London held my strict attention to the very last word (An Irishman’s Diary, April 10th). It was wonderfully apt at this sad time of Lady Thatcher’s passing. I knew and loved St Ethelburga’s for years until the evil IRA bombed it.
I am so thankful to Frank McNally for bringing me up to date on the fate of a church I thought had gone forever. I passed by for years as a young nurse on my way to and from duty at Bart’s Hospital. It is wonderful, that, after the funeral crowds have gone, I will take my camera to St Ethelburga’s new project, namely, the Gullion Link. If possible I will enter and visit .
My Irish Times keeps me informed and happy. Day after day I enjoy a variety of articles and stories, by the most professional of writers. Thank you Frank McNally. – Yours, etc,
MARGARET MATLEY,
