Sir, - What a pleasure it is to read the flowing prose of Michael Harding each Friday (Life & Culture). In the days of post-boom navel-gazing, his weekly column is a marvellous cocktail of truth, questioning and independence.
His description of the Leitrim hills and backroads leave me breathless, as a reader. Could I suggest Mr Harding is put on the secondary school syllabus as soon as possible? His observations are humorous and savage in equal measure, often showing our qualities and flaws as a nation, young and old.
Thanks to Michael Harding for making my Fridays that bit better and informed. May he continue to enjoy the lake view. - Yours, etc,
