Sir, – Michael Dervan (“The show must go on, come Fludde or shine”, August 14th) refers to the Arts Council’s Opera Production Awards, including Opera Theatre Company’s Irish premiere production of Berg’s Wozzeck, coupled with Wexford Festival Opera’s remit-filling programme of rarities, as adding up to a strange operatic diet for 2013.
He overlooked Opera Theatre Company’s Arts Council RFO (regularly funded organisations) funding, which makes possible Opera Theatre Company’s annual programming. This will see a 17-venue tour of Mozart’s ever-popular Così fan tutte as well as (as yet unannounced) other popular favourites. – Yours, etc,
