Madam, - I have a new lilt in my voice, a fresh lift in my step, a straightening in my shoulders, an absence of guilt each morning as I pay for The Irish Times - feelings of wellbeing dating from the beginning of this week. What can be the cause?
Aah yes! I can, after many long years, buy my favourite daily newspaper knowing that I am no longer supporting an extremely talented Irish writer who has, unfortunately, chosen far too often to exercise his undoubted genius by wielding his pen against easy targets - the vulnerable, the weak, the voiceless and the marginalised.
Oh bliss! - Yours, etc,

Madam, - One thing that can definitely be said about Kevin Myers is that his articles were provoking. Whether he provoked anger, disgust, bemusement, laughter or, more often as I get older, agreement (God help me!) he was always my first port of call upon purchasing your newspaper.
I wish him well in his new role and fear his true worth to your paper will only be seen in his absence. - Is mise,

Madam, - Myers the pity that he's gone. - Yours, etc,
