Sir, – I am the proud and rather bemused sister of two young men sprouting moustaches for the charity event Movember, which is an event that raises awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, by growing a distinctive tash. The “Mo Bros” are getting increased support from men young and old all over Ireland, and many are registered online and accepting donations. This new charity has not only attracted the attention of all of its members, but is raising awareness in a fun, unique new way, and I’ve come to ponder a question: if all charities became more personal and individual, would donors be more inclined to get involved? – Yours, etc,
