Sir, – The list of Ireland’s football results against Germany (October 8th) contained an omission. In 1956, a team which included seven League of Ireland players defeated West Germany 3-0 in Dalymount Park. Four players from the all-conquering Shamrock Rovers team of the 1950s, together with one each from Drumcondra, St Patrick’s Athletic and Shelbourne, plus four English-based players, provided Irish football fans with a memorable victory over the world champions. – Yours, etc,
