A chara, – A most gracious name for the new River Liffey bridge, would be the Choctaw Bridge. Acknowledging and demonstrating our gratitude for what the Choctaw Indians, did for the victims of the 1847 Great Famine.
This noble native American tribe, the Choctaws had earlier been the victims of a deadly forced 500-mile march, yet they found it in their hearts to co-ordinate funding to alleviate the crisis in Ireland, even at a period when they also were a destitute people. – Is mise,
Sir, – In 2014, less than two years’ time, we will be celebrating the thousandth anniversary of the Battle of Clontarf. We have an opportunity now to honour the victor of that historic battle by naming the new Liffey bridge after him. I think “Brian Boru Bridge” has a pleasant ring to it. – Yours, etc,
