Madam, - I am 80 years old and consider myself a successful manager of a domestic economy - the family home, farm and related businesses. This venture is built on hard work, fair shares, financial nous with the budget, prudence, and a provision for the family and the future.
Do not mistake this for self-interest because I have a commitment to community, church and charity abroad. This economic model worked for us, and the principles could well be applied to the national economy even in the world arena.
Given the current discussion of an economic stimulus plan, I urge the Taoiseach to bring a cross-section of the Irish people to the table - not just the multinationals - and thrash out the issues as they affect the whole population. Just keep in mind how Mam ran the household. Such successful management will not fail you. - Yours, etc,
