Sir, – AIB must be commended for donating paintings worth €5 million to the State (Home News, February 23rd). Bank of Ireland is not donating its art collection to the State for public exhibition but selling it off and promising to “ringfence the proceeds for philanthropic purposes”, whatever that means. May we read the small print that comes with this promise? – Yours, etc,
