Sir, - I refer to the letter in your paper from James Wrynne who gives his address at the Faculty of Business, Dublin Institute of Technology, Mountjoy Square, Dublin 1. James seems a little miffed that the lobby groups and commentators have not been quite as ecstatic about Ruari Quinn's budget as they should have been. He rejects the idea that public expenditure is out of control and wonders what Ruairi Quinn can do to satisfy the lobby groups with their incessant demands for reduced public expenditure.
Could I suggest that one of the ways would be to reduce the number of programme managers, spin doctors, advisers and public relations consultants which this Government has employed since it came into office. I am surprised that this has not occurred to Mr Wrynne, given that he was a programme manager to Labour Minister Niamh Bhreathnach in the previous Government, and is also Honorary Treasurer of the Labour Party and was appointed to the newly appointed position by this Government as Deputy Chairman of the ESB. - Yours, etc.
Willington, Green,
Dublin 6.
