Madam, - Our weekend trip to the capital was, despite a seamless trip on the Luas to and from the Red Cow park and ride and an enjoyable concert at The Point, marred by the rubbish visible on the streets, chewing gum and the other many stains on the footpaths.
I thought maybe the lack of rain (it's good for something) compounded things until a visit to the public toilets in Connolly Station disproved that theory. When my other half reported blood stains in the ladies I wanted to hasten my flight from the capital.
In case you think it's all the fault of the public services, a visit to Starbucks in Dame Street merely confirmed the adage "Dirty Dublin". - Yours, etc,
PAUL MURPHY, Barrington's Avenue, Cork.
