Sir, – My wife and I recently returned from a three-week vacation to Ireland. This was my fourth trip and I now realise that it is the people of Ireland that bring me back.
Wherever you travel, north or south, Dublin or Donegal, stand on any street corner with a map and someone will offer directions or show you the way to your destination.
If we were at a pub, a museum or a train platform, someone would start a conversation and suggest a restaurant or attraction to visit. I believe the Irish people are the friendliest people in the world. And somehow you have managed to pass this on to the younger generation. You should be very proud and I hope you never change. – Yours, etc,
RICHARD KANE,
