Madam, - Those who were interested in learning about the Irish composer Michael William Balfe in An Irishwoman's Diary (June 23rd) may like to know that there is a stained glass window honouring him in St Patrick's Cathedral.
It shows Erin crowning the musician. His bust was drawn from a portrait supplied by Balfe's widow and the window dates from 1879. - Yours, etc,
