Sir, - In Frank McDonald's article on the possible re-location of the Abbey Theatre across the Liffey (Weekend, February 3rd), it was good to see that the likely new address was given as Misery Hill. Let's hope, whether the site is developed by the Abbey Theatre or not, the name Misery Hill, of great traditional significance to the locality, is retained.Linked with Lazars Hill (Townsend Street), the area also contains the site of the first Christian Brothers' school in Dublin. As well as Misery Hill, other interesting local names include Harmony Row (just down from Holles Street), and Love Lane (Beside Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital). Unfortunately, Love Lane has been mainly closed to traffic and pedestrians for some years. And of course the parish of Westland Row/City Quay did once contain a distinctive (Preserved/protected) building in the form of Archer's Garage in Sandwith Street. I wonder could some Dublin Corporation official or, better still, a Government Minister, tell us what is happening in regard to that interesting building? - Yours, etc.,Christopher Sands, Collinswood, Collins Avenue, Dublin 9.
