Sir, – Albert Smith (June 15th) bemoans the lack of access for walkers to private land.
Sadly, it is possible the caution of landowners may be the result of our compensation culture. This, coupled with the complicity of lawyers and medics, and the tendency of insurance companies to pay up, may account for the small numbers of walking routes. – Yours, etc,
