DECLAN S. WHITE,
Madam, - I read with interest some of Kathy Sheridan's suggestions for helping the ailing tourist industry (Weekend Review, November 23rd). Among the activities she recommends the industry to encourage is walking. I wonder where. With more and more restrictions being imposed by landowners it could be a case of tramping the roads or taking to seaside walks along places such as, Inch which is illustrated in the article. But now even some of the seaside areas are being restricted.
Could it happen that future generations of Irish walkers will have to cross the Irish Sea to enjoy the landscape in Britain, where access to the countryside is to a great extent unrestricted. - Yours, etc.,
